Privacy Notice
Last updated: August 3, 2026
This notice explains how Christine Holstad, an individual sole proprietor trading as Hanging Out With Dogs, handles personal data in connection with Raising My Puppy. Christine Holstad is the data controller for that personal data.
What we collect and why
- Account data — your email address and login credentials (or Google sign-in identifier). Used to create and secure your account and give you access. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- Conversation content — the questions you ask, Scout’s replies, and any optional puppy details you enter (name, gender, age, best-guess breed). Used to provide the Service and to save your session history. Legal basis: performance of our contract.
- Support messages — anything you send us directly. Used to answer you. Legal basis: legitimate interests in supporting our customers.
- Usage and technical data — device identifiers, IP address, browser type, error logs, and basic usage counts (such as free sessions used). Used for security, fraud and abuse prevention, troubleshooting, and improving the product. Legal basis: legitimate interests.
- Marketing emails — only if you opt in. Legal basis: consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share it with
- Service providers / subprocessors — our hosting and database provider, and the AI model provider that generates coaching responses. Your conversation content is sent to the AI provider to produce a reply.
- Stripe, our payment processor, for the sale of the subscription, subscription management, payments, tax calculation, and invoicing.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) where needed.
- Authorities where we are required to do so by law.
We do not sell your personal data.
Retention
Account and conversation data is kept while your account is active and for up to 12 months after you delete it or stop using the Service, after which it is deleted or anonymised. Transaction records are retained by Stripe and by us for as long as tax and accounting law requires. You can ask us to delete your conversations at any time, and you can delete individual saved sessions yourself in the app.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, to object to certain processing, to withdraw consent, and to complain to your local data protection authority. To exercise any of these, contact us via the Hanging Out With Dogs contact page; we respond within one month.
International transfers
We operate from the United States, so personal data may be processed there. Where data is transferred from the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses with our providers.
Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures, including encryption in transit, access controls, and row-level database security so that your conversations are only readable by your own account.
Cookies
We use essential cookies and browser storage only — to keep you signed in and to remember how many free mini coaching sessions you’ve used. We do not use advertising cookies. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings, though sign-in will stop working.
Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
